Discover volcanic sights like Showa Shinzan and Lake Toya, enjoy scenic views, and experience Otaru’s canal, glass art, and winter festival. Start in Sapporo and visit Noboribetsu's Hell Valley, known for its sulfuric hot springs and volcanic steam. Then, explore Oyunuma Pond, a steaming volcanic crater lake. You can even enjoy an outdoor foot bath (weather permitting). Next, head to Lake Toya for a 2-hour break for lunch and sightseeing, followed by a visit to Showa Shinzan, an active volcano. Observe its steam and sulfur emissions, and, if interested, visit the nearby Bear Park (entrance fee not included) to see Hokkaido brown bears. Enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Toya and its surroundings at the Lake Touyako Observatory. Finally, visit Otaru, a charming port town with a historic canal, glass workshops, and the Otaru Music Box Museum. If you visit in winter, enjoy the Snow Light Path festival, featuring glowing lights and snow sculptures. After a day of sightseeing, return to Sapporo.
